I recently signed up for a 100 hr (6 month) online course to obtain my TESOL certification. The accronym stands for Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages. It is also commonly referred to as TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) and the two names are interchangeable. Anyway, it is a lifelong certification that makes me more competitive in the ESL teaching world and often comes with a higher paycheck.
The test took me 11 full hours (12 in total, but I took a short break every 2 hours) to complete! YEA, ouch! The test was not hard, but was extremely time consuming. I am glad I took it on a vacation day rather than a workday as you only get a 24 hr window to complete it. I would highly recommend this course to anyone considering teaching ESL because it gives some nice practical information that is quite useful in brushing up your English skills. http://www.teflonline.net/
